Today, our Farmers Insurance agency brings together nine people, two Ohio offices, and a shared belief: you deserve to understand what you’re protecting—and know who to call when you have a question.

Our story started in 2003, when Joel McKinnon earned his Farmers appointment and began building an agency around personal relationships. The goal was to become a place people could turn to for a useful conversation about their coverage—and a business that contributed to the life of its community.
Over the years, that work has grown to include families, homeowners, drivers, rental property owners, and businesses. Commercial insurance became an important part of the agency’s experience, alongside the home, auto, and life insurance conversations that happen as families grow and circumstances change.
The agency’s story now belongs to a whole team. Joel, Aaron, Zack, Everett, Carson, Joe, Jack, Stone, and Darlene bring different experience and responsibilities to the same work: helping people understand their options and take the next step.
A new chapter in Navarre
In September 2026, Darlene Kieffer partnered with McKinnon Insurance, bringing more than 30 years of insurance experience and longstanding relationships in Navarre and Massillon.
That partnership connects the resources of a larger team with the familiar local service her clients already know. Darlene continues working from the Navarre office, meeting with clients and reviewing coverage.
It reflects how we want to grow: by building on relationships and keeping people connected to their local agency.

Dover is home to our office at 153 W Broadway St. Along with New Philadelphia, it is central to our agency’s history, client relationships, and involvement in local school sports.

Our service area includes Dennison and Uhrichsville. In Navarre and Massillon, Darlene’s established relationships add another local connection, supported by our office at 4866 Erie Ave SW, Navarre.

You’ll find our connections beyond the office
School sports, youth activities, and local service are part of the agency’s history. Those connections matter because our work is rooted in the same places where our clients raise families and run businesses.
On the sidelines with local fans. During the 2009–10 tournament season, Joel supported Dover, New Philadelphia, and Strasburg-Franklin football, basketball, and softball teams, attending games and providing rally towels. The Ohio High School Athletic Association documented that involvement in its Fall 2010 feature.
Giving time to the next generation. Aaron’s community involvement includes Dover’s Tornado Club and coaching Dover youth sports. Joel’s Farmers profile also highlights his coaching and volunteer work with local charities. These are examples of the people behind the agency contributing their time beyond their insurance roles.
