WHEN SOMETHING HAPPENS
Claims Help Center
An accident, storm or property loss can be stressful. Focus first on people and safety, then document what happened and contact the appropriate claims team.
If anyone is injured or there is an immediate danger, contact emergency services first.
Auto accident
- Move to a safe location if possible and call emergency services when needed.
- Exchange driver, vehicle and insurance information.
- Photograph the vehicles, damage and scene when safe.
- Record witness information if available.
- Report the loss to the appropriate carrier.
Do not use a website form to request emergency assistance.
Home or property damage
Protect people first. Take reasonable steps to prevent additional damage when it is safe to do so, preserve damaged items when practical, and photograph conditions before repairs.
Keep receipts for emergency work or temporary measures and contact the appropriate carrier promptly.
Business loss
Address immediate safety and property-protection needs first. Document damaged property, equipment, inventory and the circumstances surrounding the loss.
If operations are interrupted, keep records of expenses and business impacts that may be relevant to the claim.
Information worth gathering
Depending on the loss, it can help to have your policy information, date/time/location, description of what happened, photos/video, police or fire report information, contact information for other parties and relevant receipts.
Coverage depends on the actual policy, facts of the loss, exclusions, deductibles and claim investigation. Nothing on this page determines whether a loss is covered.
