General education, not a coverage determination or a promise of savings. Terms, limits, deductibles, exclusions, eligibility and discounts vary by state, carrier and policy. Examples are illustrative. Your issued policy and endorsements control; an agent can help review them. Serving OH, PA, MI, TN, AZ and IN, subject to product availability.

Start with the event, not the label

A policy name does not settle a coverage question. The insurer needs the facts and the complete contract. This checklist helps you ask useful questions; it does not decide a claim.

  1. Who and what? Identify the insured person, property, vehicle and owner.
  2. What happened? Describe the cause, location, date and how the property was used.
  3. Which coverage? Find the relevant coverage form and definitions.
  4. What restrictions? Read exclusions, conditions and endorsements.
  5. How much? Check the limit, special sublimits, deductible and settlement method.
  6. What must I do? Follow claim notice, documentation and loss-prevention requirements.

Common coverage checks

What should I send for a coverage review?

Have your declarations page and endorsements available, plus a description of the situation. Use the agency’s established contact process to ask how to share documents securely. Do not post policy numbers or personal claim details in public comments.

Has a loss already happened?

Take reasonable steps to protect people and prevent further damage when safe, document the loss and contact your insurer promptly. Keep receipts and follow instructions about repairs and damaged property. Visit the Claims Help Center. Reading an article or sending a request does not file a claim, bind insurance or change a policy.

Want help applying this to your policy?

Read at your own pace. No form or purchase is required. If you want help, ask a question or request a quote. An online request does not bind or change coverage.
