Everyday questions worth asking before a loss
Insurance can follow you in ways you may not expect, but the details matter. These guides explain both the possible protection and the limits to check.
Can renters insurance cover belongings away from home?
Some policies can cover eligible belongings while traveling or in storage. Storage limits, covered causes of loss and deductibles can differ. Read the renters guide.
Does my car insurance cover a rental?
Some coverage may extend to an eligible rental. The rental agreement can create charges your policy does not cover. “Full coverage” is not enough information to decide. Use the rental-car checklist.
Is the trailer covered because my truck is insured?
Liability for harm to others and damage to your own trailer are separate questions. Understand trailer coverage.
Is my ring covered up to my belongings limit?
Jewelry can have a smaller limit or different covered losses. Review jewelry coverage.
A useful habit
Before moving belongings, renting a car or buying a trailer, ask: “What is covered, what is excluded, what is the limit, and what would I pay?” Keep the answer with your policy documents.
